Turn any scene into a wonderland with a touch of noise and a Threshold adjustment.

Create a new layer. Go to Edit-Fill and select white from the use menu. Next go to Filter-Noise-Add Noise and set the distribution to Gausian and make sure Monochromatic is not enabled. Set amount to between 100% and 150%.

next activate Free-transform (ctrl+T) and increase the height and width to 150% – 200%.

Change the blending mode to screen then go to Image-Adjustments-Threshold. 200 is a good setting.

Go to Filter-Blur-Gaussian Blur and enter a radius between 0.5 and 1. to add the effects of movement go to Filter-Blur-Motion blur and adjust the angle to give a slant to the snowfall and set distance between 2 and 12. Finished.

Add a convincing rainbow to any landscape scene in seconds using the Gradient Tool

create a new layer and select the gradient tool and click the gradient preview in the options bar and choose special effects and this will add replace the existing presets and then choose Russell’s rainbow. Select Radial Gradient in the options bar. Enable transparency and then click and drag to draw your rainbow.

Create a layer mask and use a large soft edged black brush to carefully remove the bottom half of the rainbow.

use edit-transform to adjust the size if necessary and then drop the opacity to somewhere around 10-15% and you’re done.

Add driving rain by manipulating colour noise with the threshold dialog, then adding a blur.

Start by creating a new layer then go to edit-fill and use white content.
Select Filter-Add noise and then choose Gaussian and 150%.

Set the blending mode to screen and use free transform to change the height and width from 100% to 400% then go to image-adjustments-threshold and change the setting to somewhere between 200 and 240.

next go to Filter-blur-motion blur and choose an angle of about 45 degrees and a distance somewhere between 50 and 200. reduce opacity if necessary. Done.

Add a body of water to an image, complete with a reflection of the surrounding scenery.

Go to Image-canvas size and increase the height from 100% to 200% and then duplicate the image and flip that new layer vertically by going to edit-tranform-flip vertical.

Go to edit-transform-distort and move bottom corners outward. Then go to edit-transform-prespective and move both bottom corners outward. then go to filter-distort-ripple and set the amount to 100% and medium.

Select the refelected image and then go to layer-new adjustment layer-Hue/saturation and reduce the lightness slightly to darken the reflection.

Select the reflected layer and choose filter-blur-motion blur and set angle to 0 and a low distance setting. Finish off by cropping out what you do not need line up the images and that’s it.

Here’s how to replace an uninspiring sky with a more interesting one from another image.

Open the channels palette and copy the channel with the greatest contrast between foreground and the sky.

Adjust the levels

Use the Dodge Tool and set Range to Highlights and Exposure to 50% and brush over the sky to turn it completely white.

Now select the Burn Tool and set Range to Shadows and Exposure to 50% and use to turn the rest of the landscape black.

Select the channel with CTRL-click and then change the selection to inverse. (CTRL-SHIFT-I)
